To implement a due diligence process per the YESS Standards, spinning and fabric mills need to assess the risk of forced labor involved in cotton production in their value chains. If there is a risk, further due diligence is required for those suppliers.

To support conformance with the YESS Standards, YESS provides a Sample Procedure to Identify High-risk Origins for Cotton Lint that references current global risk determination reports. This is a minimum recommendation for what the mills should implement.

In the future RSN is planning on coordinating country-level and region-level risk assessments with other multi-stakeholder initiatives to ensure there is consistency across the industry. Further guidance and training will be provided as they are developed.
